March 05, 2026

On December 24, 2025, at approximately 3:25 a.m., the Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of Ocala Road and W. Tennessee Street. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. It was determined that the victim was shot multiple times while sitting inside a vehicle in the parking lot of the Aspen Run Apartment Complex. Afterward, the victim drove himself to a nearby Waffle House where bystanders called for help. The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, the victim was unable to provide a statement to investigators for several weeks.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives developed information identifying Damien Johnson as the suspect in the shooting. Evidence indicated the shooting occurred after Johnson encountered the victim parked in a vehicle and subsequently fired multiple rounds before fleeing the area.

Detectives continued to gather evidence over the following months. After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, Johnson was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder on March 4, 2026.

This arrest is a testament to TPD’s ongoing commitment to seeking justice and holding violent offenders accountable. Anyone with information related to criminal activity is encouraged to contact TPD at 850-891-4200 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Solvers at 850-574-TIPS.

Arrested: Damien Johnson, 22, for attempted second degree murder.
